Jubilee Middle Ground Series- Can Israelis and Palestinians See Eye to Eye?

Can Israelis and Palestinians See Eye to Eye?

Jubilee is a youtube channel that has many video series, from everybody that focuses on body positivity to seeking secrets where people talk about their personal experiences (secrets). One of the most known "popular" video series they have is middle ground. They have three seasons and it basically brings opposing sides in __ (insert topic) to talk and see if they can reach a middle ground. From anti-vaxxers to feminists not feminists. They ask them questions and make them talk, what happens with partisan and divisive issues especially now is that people can't meet eye to and the other  side (depending on where you're standing from seems unreasonable). The channel aims to allow a safe space where opposing sides can engage in dialogue after being asked questions by the video producers. Even though things seem to get heated sometimes, normally by the end of the video both sides are more empathetic with each other. The specific middle ground episode I choose is, can Israelis and Palestinians see eye to eye? For people that are knowledgable or for people that aren't this video gives a bit of background on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and it shows the things they can or can't agree on but ultimately ends from them eating from the same table and understanding each other better than before. This video to me is not only inspiration but important, it creates dialogue which is something I like to promote and always advocate for and while the producers aren't taking any sides its asking questions that showcase the reality of the situation. Its also inspirational to me because it political while also aiming for social change. As a political science and communications major myself I love that this video is bringing the best of both worlds when it comes to that. The filming style if very formal and structured. It shows an expositional shot of Israel and Palestine the borders of the country while simultaneously introducing the people we will watch for the next 23 minutes. We get opening statements from each individual and we can immediately know who is in favor of what and who stands where. We see newspaper clippings with headlines and this all provides context to the problem and about what we are going to see discussed. Its a great video because it doesn't take any sides and in my opinion its edited in a way that keeps everyone as candid as possible. They introduce the space where said dialogue will take place and then we see them all sit together. This video is impressive and tugs at the viewers heartstrings with the music and the way each person is portrayed humanizing the issue and making it real. They provide space after a question is asked for the people that agree or disagree let them talk and them let the others join after their agreeing or disagreeing statements have been made. The shots are close and personal while also being expositional since they fit all of the participants but when someone is making a personal statement its a closeup on them. The lighting creates a mood and portrays the mood of the people participating in this dialogue. The transitions are smooth and the music helps enlarge the message of the video.
