MMJ at UP Blog

We will all be contributors to our public class blog. Our blog will explore relevant, inspirational video, photo, audio & multimedia storytelling from the web that we can learn from in a positive way. Alternatively, students may choose to submit Visual Poems.
Create a New Post (not a comment). After posting, submit the link to your post on Moodle. The assignment is not turned in when you post on the blog, but when submit the link on Moodle!
One 500 word post due by the last class in each month: 1/29, 2/26, 3/26, 4/23. Blog posts can be completed early if you like. Every post must contain an embedded visual element.
Complete a maximum of two from each of these categories – for a total of four posts:
1. Personal inspiration posts: Highlight one piece of multimedia (video or otherwise) that we can all learn from in a positive way. Utilize the “visual language” lexicon to analyze production techniques and storytelling approaches.
2. Profile of a practitioner: Profile one multimedia journalist or filmmaker whose work inspires you. Consider reaching out to them for an interview.
3. Profile of a platform or publication: Examine one platform or publication that is providing a home for meaningful nonfiction multimedia/video/audio storytelling. Examine their storytelling approach, brand identity, frequency of publication, funding model, and types of contributors (freelance vs. staff; established vs. ‘up-and-coming’). Consider reaching out to these organizations for comment.
4. Visual Poem: Create an impactful 30-60 second video that places an emphasis on cinematic shooting techniques and creative editing.

Blogs will be graded on the quality of the content and writing. Ask yourself, could this piece be published by an established media outlet?

    1. Hi, please post this as a New Post, not as a comment. You will have to accept the invitation to be a contributor. Right now I don't know who posted this? Also, make sure your post has at least one embedded visual element.
