How to get a nose piercing

prompt 1: . Personal inspiration posts: Highlight one piece of multimedia (video or otherwise) that we can all learn from in a positive way. Utilize the “visual language” lexicon to analyze production techniques and storytelling approaches.
I am obviously not a professional when it comes to filmography or cinematography. But I remember seeing this video a while ago and being so mesmerized by nose piercings. Which, before that point in my life, nose piercings were NOT my thing, however seeing the video totally changed my perspective on them. The cinematographical aspect of the video, with the interview type as well as the just artsy close up shots completely sold me on getting a nose piercing(actually getting done with it is a different story). But I like how this is portrayed its a very simple you could even say boring story since its been done time and time again to the point that it is just "repetitive". Focusing solely on the act of piercing itself, the process and the importance of balance and location gives this story a much more interesting way of storytelling. Since as mentioned before this could've just been boring.
But we get a little insight with who is performing these body alterations which in this case is Brian Keith Thompson. Former Marine that during his time serving the country had to maintain a rigorous and strict appearance, which is now something he excels in and develops through his art with body piercings and tattoos.
Thompson says there are two sides to a piercing, the piercing and the decoration. Each equally important, Thompson says that gun piercings work but its always way better to use a needle. Guns rely on the blunt force and trauma done to your skin that causes more "inconveniences" that what a needle might. While a needle is more "delicate" when it comes to piercing. It's a hallow needle with a round tip its powerful enough as the video shows us, but delicate enough to not hurt us like force would.
I think piercings and tattoos were frowned upon for the longest time and with each passing generation we being to learn, admire and respect peoples autonomy decisions and forms of self expression. This is something that even if Thompson does not specifically elaborate on you can tell from the visuals this story created.
I like how from the being the narrator of this story establishes herself very strongly to the story as well as why she is compelled to talk about this. Her previously having a nose piercing but not in the right spot made it seem like her face was not balanced properly. She is basically bringing us (the viewer) along to the journey she is once again living. Only this time she is simultaneously reporting on it.
The captivating part of this video which I've mentioned before, to me was the story telling. A very simple even boring story was told in a specific way that made it compelling and interesting to watch for the viewers. I deemed this as an inspirational video because I seem to stay stuck on standard ways of storytelling. Creatively any story can have a spin and be portrayed as something more interesting which is why I found it compelling as well as an inspiration.
